The Raptor’s suspension begged for more and more speed here.Įven more remarkable than how the suspension ironed out high-speed impacts is the chassis’s neutrality at any speed. One section of our route snaked through a low-lying valley filled with washboard dirt and sinuous whoops.
That hardware translates to riotous fun, especially when the truck gallops up to speed. There’s even a bottle opener set into the rear bumper for cracking open your post-rally Pacifico. The front bumper houses fog lights and optional off-road lamps from the factory. A bespoke BFGoodrich All Terrain T/A K02 tire, available in either 35- or 37-inch varieties, connects it to the ground. The setup offers a staggering 14 inches of wheel travel up front and 15 inches at the rear, courtesy of sophisticated suspension geometry and 24-inch coil springs. A sophisticated five-link rear suspension, paired with Fox Racing shocks, lives out back, no leaf springs to be found. The truck sits six inches wider than a regular F-150, and nearly every inch of the frame was reworked and fortified. We set off around the foot of the Dumont Dunes-not a paved road for miles-to test the Raptor’s talents, which sprout from a solid foundation. Everything New About the 2021 Raptor's Suspension
